| Vitamin B Formulations The Bs are known as a
complex. They occur together in natural sources and their uses in the body
dovetail. Most people prefer to take a B-complex supplying all the B vitamins but if you
decide to supplement with any of the single Bs, remember that if it is long term,
you should take a B-complex as well. Since B vitamins are water soluble, they are not
stored in the body and must be regularly replaced.
The B Vitamins are needed for: * their role in releasing energy from food, *
maintaining a healthy digestive system, * the normal functioning of the nerves and brain,
* maintaining healthy skin, hair, eyes, mouth and mucous membranes. |

| 8042 Thiamin 100mg (Vitamin B1) Vitamin B1 is a water-soluble vitamin
that is found in whole grains, pork, beef, peas, lentils and brown rice. Refined foods,
particularly white rice and white flour, have substantially reduced levels of Vitamin B1,
whilst over-cooking depletes thiamin levels in food.
Vitamin B1 is mainly found in skeletal muscle, brain, heart muscle, kidney and liver. It
plays a crucial part in energy release from food and carbohydrate metabolism and because
it cannot be stored in the body a regular amount is required from the diet to maintain
health. As a consequence, those with high carbohydrate intakes including sugar, require
higher levels of Vitamin B1. Vitamin B1 is also reputed to deter biting insects, and is
often chosen by people who are travelling in countries where insects are a problem.

| 8054 Nicotinamide 250mg Nicotinamide (vitamin B3), via its
major metabolite NAD++ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), is involved in a
wide range of biological processes, including the production of energy, the synthesis of
fatty acids, cholesterol and steroids, signal transduction and the maintenance of the
integrity of the genome.

| 8057 Calcium Pantothenate 500mg Time Release In the natural fight or
flight response to demanding situations, our adrenal glands are stimulated and the
need for vitamin B5 may increase. Pantothenic acid supports the adrenal gland as it
prepares the body and nervous system to meet everyday challenges. Part of the general
mobilisation for action includes stepping up the release of energy from food, the role of
fat metabolism and the provision of the immune system with antibodies.
Pantothenic acid is synthesised in the body by the bacterial flora of the intestines whose
function can be adversely affected by physical demands on the body and by antibodies and
other drugs. Post-operative individuals as well as those who have been on antibiotics may
wish to supplement with B5.

| 8078 Choline 200mg / Inositol 200mg The richest source of choline is
lecithin. Apart from its involvement in fat metabolism, choline is also needed for the
efficient transmission of nerve impulses and the nervous system. Choline is made by the
body and found associated with B vitamins in food.
Inositol is made by the body and so is not a vitamin but it is found associated with the
B-complex vitamins. Like choline, inositol is found in high concentrations in lecithin and
it is involved in the metabolism of cholesterol and fats in the liver. It is vital for
hair growth.
Do not take if pregnant or breast feeding.
