Pycnogenol is a remarkable herbal
extract with the unique primary ingredient known as Proanthocyanidin, which in molecular
structure is similar to flavonoids. Its unique action, however, is due to it
bioavailability and non-toxicity.
Pycnogenol first came to be researched by Dr Jack Masquelier of the University of Bordeaux
after he read of an unknown substance being used successfully by the members of an
expedition. His research concentrated on the naturally derived proanthocyandins in
Pycnogenol, which are found to have supreme effects as anti-oxidants. Invitro testing
shows Pycnogenol has powerful antioxidant effects that those of Vitamins C and E.
As a consequence of Dr Masquelier's findings, he developed the pine bark extraction
process and was awarded a US patent for the use of Pycnogenol as a free radical scavenger.
Studies have confirmed its antioxidant effects when two capsules a day are taken.
Usage
1 to 2 capsules per day.
