Hamiltons Cranks London to Brighton Bike Ride in aid of The British Heart Foundation from left to right Kevin, Clive, Amanda, Rob and Peter We left the gym at 7am as planned and picked Amanda up from Brentwood on the way to Clapham Common. When we arrived at the set off point on the common it was amazing to see the thousands of riders all assembling under the start gates. The first of the 27,000 starters had set off at 6am and were getting close to Brighton as we were still getting our bikes off the truck back in London. After the obligatory team photo (above), Cathy and I said good-bye to the team and wished them good-luck on their journey. The day was a mixture of sunny spells and showers. The showers being quite severe in places, but the spirits of the riders were not daunted and they all arrived, 58 miles later on Brighton sea-front, smiling and happy to have completed the challenge they had set themselves. When all of the money was in we had raised a total of £657.00 for the British Heart Foundation. stuart hamilton.
