Our Gym Instructor course will give you the skills,
knowledge and confidence you need to begin your
fitness career. It will also make you desirable for
employment in any gym across the
UK. It prepares
instructors to induct clients onto gym equipment and
to plan and supervise their workouts.
Blended learning in two parts:
Theory, to be completed in the comfort of your own
home, working at your pace, making this an ideal
format to work around your lifestyle. You will be
fully supported by email and telephone support from
your own qualified tutor. You will also have access
to our students' forum and on-line live tutorials.
Practical, 4 days practical in
one of our modern
facilities.
The aims of this
course are to:

Enable the
candidates to develop their knowledge, skills
and competence to instruct without supervision

candidates to gain the CYQ Level 2 Certificate
in Fitness Instructing – Gym

Enable
candidates to qualify for entry on to the
Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) as a
Level 2 Fitness Instructor

candidates to seek employment in the fitness,
leisure and recreation industry
Course Content:

Candidates will
learn:

fitness knowledge covering bones, joints,
muscles and muscle actions, cardiovascular and
respiratory systems, components of fitness and
principles of training.

Assessment:
Externally assessed theory paper, internally
assessed worksheets and the planning, teaching and
evaluation of a practical gym session.

Course
dates:
The course lasts a total of nine weeks; weeks 1 to 4
are home study supported by telephone, email and
forum supervision by your tutor, consisting of
around 80 hours of study using our work books,
assignments and interactive DVD; you then attend practical sessions at
our
facility at
Colchester, Harlow or Norwich; from week 6 to
week 9 you prepare your practical assignment; the
weekend of week 9 you attend our facility for your practical
examination.
